So the chance to take a look at some up and coming talent is here; the Abu Dhabi young driver test is underway and six teams are running. Two of those – Red Bull and McLaren – are in the thick of it for the Constructors Championship, so will be using the three day test to try out any last-minute developments.
Today sees two of the most talked-about hot-shots take to the track: Antonio Felix de Costa continues an impressive season with the first of two days in the Red Bull, while Robin Frijns takes the wheel of the Sauber. These two are very much the men to watch over the next three days, with Frijns taking over at Red Bull on Thursday.
McLaren give another hot-shot – Kevin Magnussen – a run today, the young Dane sharing the day with stalwart Gary Paffett. The latter is a vital tool in the development race and will also run tomorrow. Magnussen will be back on Thursday.
An interesting contender at Toro Rosso is Luiz Razia, while heavily-backed Giedo van der Garde runs for Caterham. Perhaps the most out of place, although still interesting, runner is Nicolas Prost, who gets a chance at the wheel of the victorious Lotus.
