There is talk on the internet of Sahara Force India announcing its second driver sometime today (Wednesday). It would be good if they could also announce their first, as Paul di Resta is yet to be confirmed. It is always worth taking these rumours with a pinch of salt (witness yesterday’s story about HRT and Ma Qing Hua) so we will wait and see, but who might it be?
We should assume, perhaps, that di Resta is safe, and we know that Nico Hulkenberg is gone. So, will it be an experienced driver, or one from the lower ranks? Adrian Sutil is said to have a sponsorship package in place which would be welcomed by the team. His year out may have left him a little rusty, but he has a long history there and knows his way around.
Jaime Alguersuari is also a possibility, but if money is needed he doesn’t appear to have any. Jules Bianchi, the team’s third driver, may have a look in, and both Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov are searching for work next year. Whether or not there is an announcement today my money is on a return for Sutil.
